Montenegro confirms its return to Eurovision 2026

Montenegro has officially confirmed its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, to be held in Vienna, Austria. The announcement was made on 25 August 2025 by the state broadcaster RTCG, which clarified that the country's participation is "not even in doubt".
The director of RTCG stressed that the decision to participate is firm, despite the ongoing financial difficulties of the broadcaster. In fact, a significant part of its budget is based on donations, which led to discussions about selecting the representative through a national festival or an internal process.
Participation History
Montenegro last performed in the Contest in 2025, participating with Nina Žižić and the song "Dobrodošli". The candidacy was selected through the national final of Montesong 2024, despite the initial nomination of the band NeonoeN with the song "Clickbait", which was however disqualified due to a violation of the rules (it had been performed before the set date). Nina Žižić unfortunately failed to qualify for the Grand Final, recording the first time in the participation history of Montenegro that it finished last in a semi-final night with only 12 points. Historically, Montenegro has participated a total of 13 times (as an independent state), with its best performances being in 2014 (Moj Svijet) and 2015 (Adio), when it managed to advance to the final and achieved 19th and 13th place respectively. However, his participation was interrupted for financial reasons in the years 2020, 2021,2023 and 2024.
